Kitchen Love

This week, I lectured on kitchen and bath design.  I covered design details from cabinets to countertops to Miele cappucino makers.  Personally, my ideal kitchen includes a black La Cornue stove, Calcutta marble, Christopher Peacock cabinets, two dishwashers and a walk in pantry closet.   In kitchen design, the options are endless and it's all about the details.   Here are just a few of kitchen designs sure to inspire.

I'm madly in love with this kitchen from the movie, The Holiday.  Set in Southern California, I believe San Marino, this kitchen captures the essence of the California casual luxury lifestyle with stone floors, lanterns, natural woven shades, stainless steel and a mix of the dark cabinetry and raw amost bleached out wood table.

Designer, Tamara Mangel's kitchen design below is super sleek.  This design is about a play of light and dark with the high contast between the dark espresso cabinetry and the white quartz countertops  and lighting.

Hands down, La Cornue is my favorite choice in stoves.  Made to measure and available in twenty-five colors and finishes, these hand crafted stoves are just simply gorgeous.  They are a great choice for a more elegant kitchen design.

Black cabinetry has such a rich elegant appeal.  I especially love the introduction of this black cabinetry in this all white kitchen.  Kelly Wearstler's all black kitchen below is super chic but a bit daring for most.  If you can't commit to an all black kitchen like Kelly, a butler's pantry with black cabinetry certainly would add drama.

Along with a million other people that saw the movie, Something's Gotta Give, I fell in love with this Hampton Beach house kitchen.  Classic white cabinets and subway tile and honed countertops make this kitchen a classic.

All I have to say about this white Viking stove is, "I die.".  Enough said.

Love, love, love the gray cabinetry paired with white and gray marble countertops in this kitchen by designer, Lisa Epley.  Just fabulous.  The warm brown wood floors and addition of some open shelving add warmth to the gray palette.

Another fabulous gray kitchen with more Calcutta marble...
