Viceroy

While shopping for a client's design project yesterday, my mind captured two totally different design vignettes in black and canary yellow. The first was a modern, probably Tibetan carpet, in a graphic, linear design of black and yellow. The second was a collection of gilded french antiques set against a matte black painted wall. Immediately, I thought of Kelly Wearstler's design of the Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs. Kelly Wearstler's design sensibility has created a unique brand image for the Viceroy's collection of boutique hotels.  The Palm Spring's design is classic, modern and retro. The mix of french antiques set against the modern canary yellow and white tile wall is the ultimate in chic. Classic wing chairs upholstered in bright yellow and paired with retro lighting and furnishings captures that classic retro Palm Springs style.

Studded

J Lo. is my inspiration this month from her gorgeous L.A. home to her studded Louboutin heels she wore to the Grammy's.  They are super sexy and look somewhat dangerous.  I need a pair.  They remind me of nailhead trim...or what Nancy calls, studs.  Nailhead trim in nickel, chrome, bronze or aged gold is a fabulous way to highlight, contour and add a design element to upholstery, furniture, screens, walls, doors...even drapery and cornice boards.

J. Lo

Does anyone remember when J. Lo was a Fly Girl on Living Color?  I think people forget that she began her career as a dancer.  It was the early 90's and of course I would remember this since at the time I was young and studying dance and trying to sport my own Fly Girl look a la black bike shorts and sports bra with dark lipstick and hoop earrings.  From the Bronx to Beverly Hills...J. Lo has certainly become an icon that epitomizes glamour and her home is no exception.

In my last post, I shared photos from Jennifer Lopez's L.A. home featured in Veranda magazine and designed by Michelle Workman.  The rest of the house is so gorgeous that I had to a write post dedicated solely to J. Lo.
