Blue Grotto: Color Inspiration 2011

Here is another piece of my inspiration board for 2011... This is my interpretation of jewel tones. Instead of fine precious stones, my inspiration is natural jems in geode form, raw and uncut. While shopping for a project a couple months back, Nancy found an incredible silk tafetta in the same shade as the model's dress on the Vogue cover. Although we did not use it on the project, it is so go gorgeous that it has remained on our work table. Nancy said when the right project presents...and it always does...., we should use that blue silk paired with gold. As usual, my brain becomes a scanner....and this Vogue cover appears. I call it Grotto Blue. It has a luminous quality and such depth and richness.
