This weekend, while brainstorming for a project, Nancy suggested the color palette of Louis Vuitton, chocolate, black and honey blonde. I recalled seeing Louis Vuitton's 2010 Core Values ad campaign set in Africa featuring U2's Bono and his wife Ali Hewson. Bono and Ali Hewson founded, Edun, a for-profit fashion company dedicated to encouraging other fashion companies to trade with Africa.
The brand Louis Vuitton is synonomous with luxury travel. I imagine, Karen Blixen in Out of Africa on the train with her stack of trunks in tow. Luxury and finery contrasting against the primitive African landscape.
The talented designer, Darryl Carter, came to mind. Darryl Carter's work is so pure. Like Louis Vuitton, Darryl Carter's design aesthetic combines classic and modern, refined and raw.
